A workshop for early career researchers
2-4 November 2016, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
Deadline for applications – 10 September 2016
We are recruiting Malaysia- and UK-based early career researchers to participate in a workshop on oil palm sustainability, which will take place in Sabah in November. We are able to sponsor 30-40 places at the workshop thanks to generous funding from the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund. To apply, please visit our application form at
https://goo.gl/forms/1wsG3RH9SQeYednV2. The workshop will provide early career researchers working on oil palm sustainability issues with a unique and exciting opportunity to share expertise and grow their professional network. During the workshop, everyone will be able to present their research in the form of a poster or short oral presentation. Additionally, they will have the chance to interact with established researchers and oil palm industry stakeholders from the UK and Malaysia. A key focus of the workshop will be to identify key research priorities for oil palm sustainability and build the collaborative relationships to tackle them. Participants will therefore be selected on the basis of their research potential from information they supply in their application.
The 3-day workshop is being coordinated by the Institute for Tropical Biology and Conservation at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (ITBC-UMS) and the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology at University of Kent, UK (DICE-Kent). There will be contributions from other leading researchers from Oxford University and the South East Asia Rainforest Research Partnership (SEARRP), as well as oil palm stakeholders in Malaysia.
Please visit our website (above) for further information including eligibility criteria. We look forward to receiving your application and seeing you in November!
